Destination: Papiliorama, Kerzers<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our little mermaid princess loves butterflies and dolphins. These water mammals are not so easy to find here in the land of mountains but there\u2019s plenty of butterflies\u2026 and we knew of a special place. So we planned a trip to Papiliorama<\/a>, which is a tropical garden and a jungle built inside of an enormous greenhouse in Kerzers, Switzerland. Of course we mentioned nothing about our plans to the kids \u2013 you see, they tend to lose their sleep if there\u2019s something exciting coming up. Last time I made the mistake of telling the night before, my little princess was still counting fellow princesses at 9.30 which is way past her bedtime. Then she told me she could only remember 10 princesses and therefore could not count further\u2026 Oh, stupid me, I thought, and commanded her to switch into lambs. Finally that worked and lured her into sleep\u2026 So you see why we are not telling anything beforehand\u2026?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We broke\nthe news in the morning, and the whole crew was fed, dressed up and ready to go\nin no time. We wanted to go early because we knew it would be less crowded on\nearly hours. And also because the night animals go to bed during the day and we\nwanted to see them as well. There\u2019s three different venues in Papiliorama:\ntropical garden, jungle and nocturama (which is a jungle at night). We started\nwith nocturama, and the kids loved walking through the dark pathways. I think\nprince charming didn\u2019t care that much about the animals, he was just thrilled\nabout the magical blue light. But we saw armadillos and sloths and bats, among\nthe other animals. Little princess was fascinated about these hideous bats\nflying freely all over the place, but I must say I didn\u2019t like it all that\nmuch. They are good navigators and never really bump into anybody, but\nsometimes they fly so close that you can feel the air current coming from their\ntiny wings\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tropical\ngarden was up next. My personal favorite. Thousands of butterflies flying\nfreely around you\u2026 I and my dear husband were trying to get good pictures about\nthese little flying creatures but it proved to be impossible. First of all they\ndon\u2019t exactly stay still too long. And second, little prince charming losing\nhis concentration and running around wildly, which naturally is not allowed.\nTry to explain to a two-year-old that this is the home of butterflies and you\nhave to respect their home, play with their rules and so on\u2026 as good as talking\nto a wall. Jungle pathway was more like it for him, because there\u2019s a spiral\nstaircase that leads to bridge. And another spiral staircase that leads back\ndown. So he was busy with going up and down and that gave the rest of us a\nchange to search for the animals hidden between the bushes and take some\nphotos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After these\nthree venues we were dead tired and hungry, and decided to go eat something.\nThere is a picnic place in Papiliorama but this time we were lacking a picnic\nlunch. So we had to go to the restaurant and ended up eating fries with\nsausage. Not exactly the healthy lunch our family is used to. Somehow, after\nlunch nobody was happy or energetic. Actually quite the opposite. And this left\nme thinking, why is it always fries, sausages, chicken nuggets or pizza in this\nkind of places? You pay too much and get some crappy food, ending up feeling\ncrappy. And thirsty. No amount of water can overcome the amount of salt\u2026  Now I have to say I am not a big health food\nfreak myself and I have nothing against sausages. I am just saying could they\nadd some salad or fruits or cucumbers\u2026 or something? Do they actually think\nthat kids don\u2019t want to eat fruits or vegetables? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway,\nafter lunch we headed to playground, pongo plaza, and discovered it has almost\nnothing interesting enough to our two-year-old. Luckily we found this \u201dflying\u201d\nbee, and he was flying around the world with it. For six-year-old there was\nplenty to do, climbing, and water playground and so on\u2026 She was happy as a\nhorse. Nevertheless, we were all a bit downcast and didn\u2019t stay long at the\nplayground. It was time to head home. We bought some souvenirs from the shop on\nthe way out and headed to our car. Little princess with her new butterfly necklace\nand prince charming with a bouncing ball that had a butterfly inside of it.\nHappy end for chasing butterflies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh\u2026 We stopped at grandma\u2019s on the way home and what do you know\u2026 we ate tons of apples for a snack. Poor grandma. She was one apple basket poorer when we left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhosjahdissa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pieni merenneitoprinsessamme rakastaa perhosia ja\ndelfiinej\u00e4. Nuo vesinis\u00e4kk\u00e4\u00e4t ovat melko hankalia l\u00f6ydett\u00e4vi\u00e4 t\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 vuorien ja\nsuurien korkeuserojen maassa, mutta perhosia l\u00f6ytyy riitt\u00e4miin\u2026 ja me tied\u00e4mme\ner\u00e4\u00e4n erityisen perhospaikan! Suunnittelimme retken tuohon paikkaan,\nPapilioramaan, joka on kasvihuonekupolien sis\u00e4\u00e4n rakennettu trooppinen puutarha\nja viidakko Kerzersiss\u00e4, Sveitsiss\u00e4. Emme tietenk\u00e4\u00e4n maininneet\nsuunnitelmastamme j\u00e4lkikasvullemme sanallakaan etuk\u00e4teen \u2013 heill\u00e4 kun on molemmilla\ntaipumus hukata nukkumatti jos on jotain j\u00e4nnitt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 tiedossa. Viimeksi kun\nerehdyin kertomaan jostain suunnitelmastamme edellisen\u00e4 iltana, pikku\nprinsessamme laski kollegoitaan (muita prinsessoja) viel\u00e4 klo 21:30. Ja\nnukkumaanmenoaika siis oli jo aikoja sitten. Neiti kertoi minulle lopulta, ett\u00e4\nmuistaa vaan kymmenen muuta prinsessaa, eik\u00e4 siis voinut laskea pidemm\u00e4lle. Voi\nminua idioottia, ajattelin, ja komensin tytt\u00f6sen vaihtamaan laskettavat\nlampaisiin. Lopulta se toimi ja lapsonen nukahti\u2026 T\u00e4m\u00e4n tarinan pohjalta voinet\narvata miksi emme nyky\u00e4\u00e4n kerro mit\u00e4\u00e4n etuk\u00e4teen\u2026?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lapset saivat kuulla suunnitelmasta ensimm\u00e4isen\u00e4 aamulla, ja\nkoko joukkue oli ruokittuna ja puettuna valmiina l\u00e4ht\u00f6\u00f6n ajatustakin nopeammin.\nHalusimme p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4 liikkeelle aikaisin, koska tiesimme ett\u00e4 kohteessamme olisi\nv\u00e4hemm\u00e4n ruuhkaa aamutuimaan. Tiesimme my\u00f6s vanhastaan ett\u00e4 Papilioraman\ny\u00f6el\u00e4j\u00e4t menev\u00e4t nukkumaan p\u00e4iv\u00e4saikaan, ja toiveissa oli ehti\u00e4 n\u00e4hd\u00e4 vilaus\nniist\u00e4kin. Papilioramassa on kolme eri kohdetta: trooppinen puutarha, viidakko\nja \u00f6inen viidakko. Aloitimme kierroksemme Nocturamasta, \u00f6isest\u00e4 viidakosta, ja\nlapset nauttivat t\u00e4ysin siemauksin k\u00e4velyst\u00e4 h\u00e4m\u00e4rill\u00e4 poluilla. Pieni prinssi\nHurmaava ei tainnut paljoa v\u00e4litt\u00e4\u00e4 el\u00e4imist\u00e4, mutta rakastui paikan\ntaianomaisena hohkaavaan siniseen valoon. N\u00e4imme vy\u00f6ti\u00e4isi\u00e4, laiskiaisia ja\nlepakoita sek\u00e4 joukon muita otuksia. Pikku prinsessa oli innoissaan vapaana\njoka puolella lent\u00e4vist\u00e4 lepakoista, mutta minun on my\u00f6nnett\u00e4v\u00e4 ett\u00e4\nhenkil\u00f6kohtaisesti en niist\u00e4 niin kovasti innostunut. Ne ovat kyll\u00e4 taitavia\nnavigoimaan eiv\u00e4tk\u00e4 kai (?) koskaan t\u00f6rm\u00e4ile ihmisiin, mutta joskus ne lent\u00e4v\u00e4t\nniin l\u00e4helt\u00e4 ett\u00e4 voit tuntea pienten siipien aiheuttaman ilmavirran\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seuraavaksi suuntasimme trooppiseen puutarhaan, minun\nhenkil\u00f6kohtaiseen suosikkipaikkaani. Tuhansia perhosia lentelem\u00e4ss\u00e4 ymp\u00e4riins\u00e4\u2026\nAllekirjoittanut kera rakkaan puolisoni yritti ahkerasti saada hyvi\u00e4 kuvia\nn\u00e4ist\u00e4 lent\u00e4vist\u00e4 olennoista, mutta se oli kyll\u00e4 melko mahdoton teht\u00e4v\u00e4. Ne kun\neiv\u00e4t suorastaan viihdy paikoillaan kovinkaan pitk\u00e4\u00e4n. Ja toisekseen, pikku\nprinssi Hurmaava alkoi menett\u00e4\u00e4 keskittymiskyky\u00e4ns\u00e4 ja juosta ymp\u00e4riins\u00e4\nvilli-ihmisen\u00e4. Kuten arvata saattaa, moinen toiminta on kielletty\u00e4. Yrit\u00e4\nsiin\u00e4 sitten selitt\u00e4\u00e4 kaksivuotiaalle, ett\u00e4 t\u00e4m\u00e4 on perhosten koti ja sinun\nt\u00e4ytyy kunnioittaa niiden kotia, noudattaa s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6j\u00e4 ja niin edelleen\u2026 kuin\nseinille puhuisi! Onneksi kolmas kohteemme Viidakko sopi paremmin\npikkumiehellekin. Sielt\u00e4 n\u00e4et l\u00f6ytyi sillalle johtava kierreportaikko. Ja\nsillan toisessa p\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 toinen kierreportaikko takaisin alas. Pikkumies oli\nkiireinen kivutessaan portaita yl\u00f6s ja alas, ja me muut saimme sill\u00e4 aikaa\nrauhassa etsi\u00e4 ja kuvata puskien sekaan piiloutuneita el\u00e4imi\u00e4.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kierretty\u00e4mme kaikki kolme kohdetta olimme kuolemanv\u00e4syneit\u00e4\nja n\u00e4lk\u00e4isi\u00e4, joten p\u00e4\u00e4timme suunnata sy\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4n jotain. Papilioramassa on kyll\u00e4\nmy\u00f6s piknik-paikka, mutta t\u00e4ll\u00e4 kertaa meilt\u00e4 puuttuivat ev\u00e4\u00e4t. Joten jouduimme\nsuuntaamaan ravintolaan ja p\u00e4\u00e4dyimme sy\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4n ranskiksia ja makkaraa. Ei nyt\nihan se perusterveellinen lounas joita enimm\u00e4kseen sy\u00f6mme. Ruoan j\u00e4lkeen kukaan\nei oikein ollut iloinen tai energinen. Itse asiassa fiilikset olivat aika\nt\u00e4ydellinen vastakohta. J\u00e4in miettim\u00e4\u00e4n miksi n\u00e4iss\u00e4 paikoissa tarjoillaan aina\nranskiksia, makkaraa, chicken nuggetseja ja pizzaa, jotka yleens\u00e4 viel\u00e4\nmaksavat aivan liikaa? Saat surkeaa ruokaa josta tulee surkea olo, ja kaiken\nkukkuraksi hirmuinen jano. Suolan m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 tuntuu olevan vakio, johon mik\u00e4\u00e4n veden\nkittaaminen ei en\u00e4\u00e4 auta. Sanottakoon nyt t\u00e4ss\u00e4 ett\u00e4 en ole mik\u00e4\u00e4n suuri\nterveysintoilija, eik\u00e4 minulla oikeasti ole mit\u00e4\u00e4n makkaroita vastaan. Mietin\nvaan, ett\u00e4 eik\u00f6 n\u00e4ihin annoksiin tosiaan voisi lis\u00e4t\u00e4 v\u00e4h\u00e4n salaattia, hedelmi\u00e4\ntai vaikkapa kurkkusiivuja\u2026? Luulevatko he ett\u00e4 lapset eiv\u00e4t sy\u00f6 hedelmi\u00e4 tai\nvihanneksia?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joka tapauksessa, lounaan j\u00e4lkeen suuntasimme\nleikkikent\u00e4lle, Pongo Plaza nimelt\u00e4\u00e4n, ja saimme selville ettei siell\u00e4 ollut\njuuri mit\u00e4\u00e4n kaksivuotiaallemme. Tilanteen pelasti \u201dlent\u00e4v\u00e4\u201d mehil\u00e4inen, ja\npikkumies taisi \u201dlent\u00e4\u00e4\u201d koko maailman ymp\u00e4ri. Kuusivuotiaallemme tekemist\u00e4\nl\u00f6ytyi yllin kyllin: kiipeily\u00e4 ja vesileikkipaikkaa ynn\u00e4 muuta\u2026 Neiti oli melkein\nonnensa kukkuloilla. Kuinka ollakkaan, olimme kuitenkin kaikki hieman allap\u00e4in\nemmek\u00e4 jaksaneet riekkua leikkikent\u00e4ll\u00e4 kovin pitk\u00e4\u00e4n. Oli aika palata kotiin.\nOstimme muutamia matkamuistoja ulosk\u00e4ynnin vieress\u00e4 sijaitsevasta kaupasta ja\nsuunnistimme autolle. Pikku prinsessalla oli tuomisinaan kaunis perhoskaulakoru\nja prinssi Hurmaavalla puolestaan pomppupallo perhosella varustettuna.\nOnnistunut perhosjahti siis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
